HAPPY

Simple fun episode 1: 500

Do you want to have fun, but you don’t have a lot of “sports stuff” lying around? In these series, we will present you games that can be played with just some friends and a single ball. Because exercise needs to be fun and simple!
This episode will focus around 500, a very simple counting game. You will need a ball (football, handball, basketball, volleyball, any large ball will do) and some friends.
Step 1: choose a thrower, and give him a ball;
Step 2: the thrower will throw the ball high into the air (as straight up as possible) and shout a number (any number will do) and either “dead” or “alive”;
Step 3: the others will try to catch the ball, but be careful – if the thrower shouted “dead”, you need to catch the ball after it hit the ground, and if he/she shouted “alive”, you need to catch the ball before it hits the ground;
Step 4: whoever caught the ball correctly (be careful it the thrower shouted “dead” or “alive”) gets the number of points that the thrower said before.
Step 5: Give the ball back to the thrower and let him do it again, but remember how many points each player has after each turn!
The first player who reaches 500 points wins the game and he/she will be the thrower for the next game.

Clean up the World

PULIAMO IL MONDO

‘Free the city from waste, degradation &

contribute to more sustainable urban spaces,

clean and inclusive’

Puliamo il Mondo (PiM) is the Italian edition of Clean up the World. The scope of Clean up the World is to inspire and empower community groups, schools, businesses, and local governments to carry out community-based activities through a range of initiatives from clean-ups, tree planting activities to recycling, water management and energy conservation projects.

Brought to Italy in 1993 by Legambiente who has taken on the role as organizing committee. It is present throughout the national territory thanks to the untiring work of more than 1,000 groups of "environmental volunteers. The initiative is organized at the local level in collaboration with associations, corporations, committees and local municipalities.

This year PiM saw over 600 thousand volunteers in 1,700 municipalities and 4,000 locations participate in the largest voluntary environmental initiative organized in Italy by Legambiente in collaboration with Rai (public national TV).

The Municipality of Forte dei Marmi (CFdM) has been an active member of this campaign for several years, together with the schools from the Istituto Comprensivo of Forte dei Marmi. Every year they clean up the public beaches and the dunes protected areas of the Victoria Apuan district. This year’s clean-up activities have involved the primary school children that have adhered to the ‘Move up to be healthy & happy’ project, together with 2 secondary school classes.

The day started with the children taking a small excursion on foot from the school premises to the public beaches (approximately 6 km round trip). On arrival the children formed a circle and did some stretching exercises before cleaning the beaches and the dunes. The morning included an environmental educational lesson with a qualified guide from the dunes protected area. Before returning to school the children had a healthy nutritional picnic in the nearby park behind the beaches.

Internationally Clean Up the World engages an estimated 35 million volunteers in 130 countries each year, making it one of the largest community based environmental campaigns in the world. The clean-up flagship event takes places the 3rd weekend in September every year.

Clean Up the World is held in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Forte dei Marmi - Golf

Golf is a very popular sport worldwide. It is a game played on a large outdoor course, the object being to propel a small hard ball into a series of ‘holes’ with as few strokes as possible, using a variety of wood or iron-tipped sticks or ‘golf clubs’. In 2005, it was calculated that there were nearly 32,000 golf courses in the world, providing many opportunities to participate.

Golf provides a stimulating mental challenge combined with a healthy walk in pleasant surroundings and can be played by people of all abilities and ages. Golf can be played on your own or in a team. It may be a casual pastime or a competitive activity.

Gdynia has already started activities in schools!

Last Friday, Gdynia Sports Centre has started implementing activities in Primary Schools.

We have visited schools no 47 and 12 with health lessons and P.E. classes.

It was so much fun to see how happy all children were during these activities.

Now we know why we are doing it;)

Big success of the event in Gdynia

On 27th August at the main beach in Gdynia there was organised and event for children under the project Move up to be healthy and happy co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The aim of the event was to raise the children’ and parents’ awareness about healthy lifestyle and beside that promotion of the project which is coordinated by Gdynia Sports Centre. The interest, not only of children but also of adults, was bigger than we expected.

Children were very engaged in all activities. Among the various offer participants could find sport classes such as Zumba, sport games: tag-of-war, jumping in sacks, races with obstacles and also quizzes about health. We were positively surprised cause children handled with difficult questions very well and willingly talked about useful things in our healthy lives.

In the event agenda there were also cooking workshop that were held by nutritionists from Instytut Żywienia i Rozwoju Eligo during which children got to know many important information about healthy diet and also prepared their own healthy oatmeal.

The great applause aroused also for performance "Hamburgers attack", which reinforced the message of the entire project - the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
We are very happy that the event was so positively accepted and we hope that the knowledge gained by the children will be with them for long time.

 "The young speleologia"

 Sunday the 24th of July 2016 saw the annual event of the ‘Premio Nardini’ (Nardini Award). The Premio Nardini is dedicated to the memory of the former Director of the Apuan Alpes Geo National Park – Giuseppe Nardini (from 2004 to 2012), and his love for the environment and the tenacity with which he carried out his ideas for bringing together the coastal area of Forte dei Marmi and the mountains.

The event is in its 5th year and is organized in the spirit of social aggregation and the promotion of outdoor sports. Each year the event starts from Forte dei Marmi and culminates in a locality within the Apuan Alpes National Park. This year’s event was held in Levigliani, reknown for its marble, underground caves and mines. The agenda included sports activities for adults and youths: mountain & road cycling events, Nordic walking and trekking.

This year’s event also saw the first in a series of children’s sports activities that will be organized as part of the ‘Move up to be health & happy’ (MUTH & H) project.

The children’s MUTH&H event started with a light healthy breakfast at 8 am in Piazza Ortali in Levigliani. Followed by a 30 minute trek through a chestnut woodland to reach the ‘Miniere Dell’Argento Vivo’ (Quicksilver mines). These mines are amongst some of the oldest mines in Northern Tuscany. One of the characteristics of these mines is the presence of mercury in its native state.

The children were accompanied by guides on the short trekking expedition and by specialist guides in the mines. Equipped with miners helmets the children were able experience how it felt to be ‘speleologists’ for the morning in search of ancient deposits. Some of the younger children were accompanied by their parents.

The excursion to the mines included an illustration of the speleologist profession, its history, the equipment used along with other curiosities related to this trade. In addition to the on-site workshop there was a very interactive and lively discussion with the young speleologists on the minerals that used to be extracted in these mines.

To concluded the children’s experience, after a further 30 minute trek back through the woodlands, there was a luncheon awaiting our young ‘speleologist’.

The ‘Premio Nardini’ awards & events are organised by the Association Cicilistica Forte dei Marmi. The Municipality of Forte dei Marmi is an official sponsor of the event and has been since its inception.

How to encourage your child to do sport?

Here are some useful tips for parents who want their children to do sport with passion. It seems that we know these simple rules but the fact is that we sometimes just forget about them... Remember that sport can be a great fun!

Be active and give an example to your kid.

Allow your child to self-select the type of activity.

Talk. Try to find out why your child likes or does not like to play sports.

Praise your kid for taking activity.

Celebrate each success of your child.

And finally, remember that children must also have time to relax.

HAPPY EASTER!

Comune di Forte dei Marmi ‘ CarnevalFortebambino’ and "A fairy tale carnival"

Carnival a popular winter pass time in the Versilia district, and not only. It starts 1st week in February and last for four weeks, with each municipality in the district having its own theme and series of events for the duration.

On Shrove Tuesday (9th February) the Municipality of Forte dei Marmi inaugurated this year’s children’s carnival with ‘ CarnevalFortebambino’ in conjunction with the general carnival celebrations. The children’s events started at 15.00 hours in the main Piazza Marconi in Forte dei Marmi, with a series of games and animations for children from nurseries and primary schools.

The events reached their peak on Sunday 14th and will be repeated on the 21st February with "A fairy tale carnival", with parades of masks and costumes throughout Forte dei Marmi accompanied by the local band. The masks and the costumes were made by over three hundred mothers who accepted the invitation and challenge launched by the municipal Councilor for Education.

The children found the Forest of Sherwood with bows and arrows, play badminton with Lady Marian or take the tea with the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter. Play croquet with the Queen of Curi or challenge the terrible Captain Hook with the help of Tinkerbell and Peter Pan, not to mention a soft and safe space for the nurseries children to play. All the games are organized in theme with the children’s costumes.

Initially the Municipality of Forte dei Marmi had thought of a contest with a jury to reward the best costume. In the end it was decided against as the real winner is the enthusiasm and overall participation in making the children’s carnival events happen.
